Announcing the all new, modified 2020

Walk to Defeat ALS REMIXED!

We will have more fun games and contests leading up to the event, and teams can even compete between one city to another if they wish. You choose your theme, select a safe location in your own community, design your T-shirts, set your fundraising goal, gather your friends and family, and record your event. Or pull out your treadmill, select a great walking song and walk your own way. Be creative, win prizes and have fun. Be sure to send us your video so that we can broadcast it on our social media and website.

Why do we still need to do the Walk to Defeat ALS? Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, ALS and the effects of the disease on pALS and their families has not stopped--so neither can we. The ALS Association of Central & Southern Ohio Chapter must continue to provide health care professionals for case management and licensed multidisciplinary ALS clinics, our Equipment Lending Program, Quality of Life Reimbursement grants, Education & Exchange support groups, funding for research and more, until there is a cure for ALS and the disease no longer exists.

Why is the Walk to Defeat ALS so important? The Walk to Defeat ALS provides around 80% of the funding we need to keep the doors of the ALS Association Central & Southern Ohio Chapter open and our services going at full speed. Unlike many other non-profit organizations, we do only this one major fundraising activity each year.

Not sure where to start? Join an existing team or create your own and invite your friends and family to join or sponsor. The best thing about a virtual walk? Anyone can join your team whether they live next door or 2,000 miles away! Fundraise: Don't want to walk but you still want to participate? No problem! Simply create a fundraising page and ask people to donate. Maximize your fundraising impact! Ask your friends and family to sponsor your walk. Please also keep in mind that there's no set amount for sponsorship, so your friends and family can sponsor you at any level that's practical for them.

Need Virtual Walk Ideas-

-Walk in a mall

-Take a walking tour of your town

-Make your grocery shopping or another shopping trip YOUR Walk to Defeat ALS

-Walk on a treadmill, and enlist other members to walk with you

-Even if you can't walk, get people/gamers involved with a computer or board game

You can be creative as you want! Record your Walk and send it to us so we can share it on our socail media platforms. Show photos of your Honoree and tell us why you walk. It's fun and exiciting!

Remembering Your Loved One Through a Memorial Gift

Losing someone to ALS is something that no one wants to experience. But many, through the frustration and pain, find a way to give back and honor their loved one. Your friends and family can help continue providing services for those still living with ALS by making a donation to the Chapter in memory of their loved one.  This can be done by naming the Chapter in your loved one's obituary: Memorial donations may be made to The ALS Association Central & Southern Ohio Chapter, 1170 Old Henderson Rd., Ste. 221, Columbus OH 43220. The Chapter sends thank you letters to all donors and acknowledgment to the family listing the names only (amount is not listed) of those who have made donations.
