The purpose of the Patient & Family Services Department is to collect, review, and distribute information of ALS-specific resources and referrals.  Additionally, the Patient & Family Services Department is dedicated to the support of patients, caregivers, families, and members of the health care community.

The Patient & Family Services Department is staffed by registered nurses and a social worker who serve as patient services coordinators.  Their primary role is to assist patients in dealing with the daily challenges of ALS.  They do this by providing information, education, and emotional support to patients and their families.   

The Patient & Family Services Department is also actively involved in education of community health care professionals.  There is a great need for the medical community to become better informed on the management of ALS as well as ongoing clinical research.  The Patient & Family Services Department is available for consultation and provides a Healthcare Professionals Resource Guide to physicians and other healthcare organizations on request.  The Patient & Family Services Staff is also available on a limited basis to provide professional inservices to other organizations.
